think about such things." Philippians 4:8 As we begin our study of how to design web pages, we need to begin here. God calls each of us to a standard of holiness and purity that is so foreign to the world ... and yet is essential to our fellowship with Him and our witness for Him. As you work on the internet, you will have opportunities to fill your mind and heart with things which are true, noble, right, pure, lovely and admirable. You will also have opportunities to fill your mind and heart with other things. Memorize this passage ... but more than that, decide to live it and ask the Lord to show you how. |

Back in the 1950's with fears of an attack by
the Soviet Union, the United States began developing a system of
communications that included computers communicating with one another.
These initial connections involved just a few computers and a limited number
of people. Gradually, the concept was developed to include computers
at distant locations.
Other groups and individuals began developing "protocols" and procedures for expanding this early system and what was a purely military application, became a research application for universities and businesses, and then a commercial application for the average person. Today, the internet and world wide web are a part of our daily lives. In this lesson, I would like you to become familiar with the physical structure of the internet and some of the basic terminologies that are used in this area. Work through the resources carefully and try to have a good conceptual understanding of the internet. |

that is taken from their server in Virginia to our server in Missoula.
Type in "valleychristian.org" to see the route. You may enter other
addresses if you wish to get a "feel" for what happens to all those little

Tracert Another way to check where you data has been. |
Open up the MS DOS window. Go to FILE,
PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, MS-DOS PROMPT When the window opens, type "tracert valleychristian.org". It will print out a list of all the places the computer went in order to connect to the Valley Christian portal. [It should only take one stop, since the portal is here!] Find the routes taken to reach the following locations: eagleportal.org valleyportal.org yahoo.com |
